The International Bill of Human Rights

The International Bill of Human Rights

  1. The UN Charter (1945)

  2. Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948)

  3. International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1976)

International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1976)

  4. The International Bill of Human Rights (ratified 1976)

The International Bill of Human Rights integrates the declaration of 1948 and the two covenants of 1976.

The preambles of both covenants recall the obligations of states to promote human rights, and remind the individual of his or her responsibility to strive for the promotion and observance of those rights.
